History

Rabobank Indonesia, also known as PT Bank Rabobank International Indonesia, commenced operations in 1990, initially providing corporate banking services. Rabobank Indonesia is a subsidiary of Rabobank Group which has its headquarters in Utrecht, Netherlands. Rabobank Indonesia proceed (without) a profound understanding of the food and agribusiness factor, and therefore is able to expand its client base in this sector.

Rabobank’s Indonesia vision is to grow into a rock solid bank in Indonesia by focusing in food and agribusiness sector. Established in 1990, Rabobank wishes to affirm that it is not here simply to do business. We are here to contribute in providing enough food on a sustainable basis, for Indonesia’s growing population. This is in accord with ‘Banking for Food” Rabobank Indonesia’s growth strategy, to expand coverage in Indonesia by providing access to finance, access to knowledge, and access to Rabobank’s vibrant network around the world.

For Rabobank Indonesia, the food and agribusiness sector carries opportunities that extend far beyond just food and agriculture. It covers the entire food and agribusiness supply chain, from farm to fork. This journey begins with farm input companies that produce seeds, fertilizers and farm equipment, and proceed to a terminus with retailers selling products ready to be enjoyed by consumers. It also includes distributors and packaging companies.

History

In 1898 two cooperative banks founded by farmers, Cooperatieve Centrale Raiffeisen Bank in Utrecht and Cooperatieve Centrale Boerenleenbank in Eindhoven, operated separately in giving financial access to farmers. In 1972 the two entities merged and agreed to use the name of Rabobank Nederland. As the need for banking services outside the Netherlands grew, Rabobank started to open office in Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
